The most people are usually unanimous about the idea of good holidays, because most of all they want to break the usual routine of their life. There are many different means of spending holidays, but as many people say, the best is, of course, travelling… And I think that the modern life is impossible without travelling. Thousands of people travel every day either for pleasure or on business, & they have at their disposal various means of transport. People can choose any place on the planet & go there. Most holiday makers take a camera with them and take pictures of everything that interests them. Later, these photos will remind about the happy time they had.
Travelling by plane has many advantages of course. Improvements in airline technology have made air tickets chipper, planes can carry more people. Travelling by air saves our time, but it much depends on the weather. If the weather isn’t favorable the flight can be delayed. But in spite of that, a lot of tourists put up with long delays & queues at airports to get a few rays of sunshine. Some people are afraid of flying, but as for me there is nothing like travel by air.
Nowadays we have to save our money, so we go by train. From a comfortable seat of a railway carriage you have a splendid view of the whole countryside. But if there is no through train, you have to change the train & it isn’t very convenient.
Many people prefer to travel in their own cars. You can stop where & when you like. You don’t have to buy tickets or carry your suitcases.
Many students prefer hiking to other kinds of holiday. This is the way many young people see the world these days. They can stay at youth hotels & they needn’t worry about tickets, trains & luggage. What you need is just a rucksack with those few things that are necessary for a hike.
People travel to broaden their minds: to see other countries, modern cities & the ruins of ancient towns. Many people can afford a two-week holiday to go abroad.
